Vedo is a free app that lets parents share their child's day with their daycare, childcare facility, preschool, or early learning center. This policy explains what Vedo collects, why, and how you can delete it. Vedo is made for parents, guardians and school staff (adults). It is not directed to children.
What we collect

Vedo collects incidental daily care logs (such as feeding times, bottle ounces, nap duration, diaper checks, and daily teacher observations) necessary for licensed child care, daycare, and classroom communication. Vedo does not collect broad medical records or financial credit card numbers (tuition payments are securely processed by Stripe directly).
Asking for a tour
A family that isn't in Vedo yet can ask a school for a tour on the school's tour page, without an account. That form asks for your child's first name, an age range, the month you'd like to start and your email address. Only that school's office sees your request, to reply and to keep its waiting list. To stop people from flooding the form, Vedo also keeps a daily counter labelled with a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address and email; it is used only to count requests per day and can't be turned back into the address or email. We never sell tour requests or use them for ads. To have your request removed, ask the school's office (contact below), and they will delete it.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no ad networks.
- No tracking or analytics SDKs, no tracking across other apps or websites.
- We never sell or rent your information.
- We don't use your information to build profiles or for marketing.
Who can see your information
- You and the other grown-ups in your family see your family's slips, absences and messages.
- Your school's staff and administrator see what your school needs to care for your child. Teachers do not see family contact details.
- No other family, and no other school, can see your family's information. This is enforced by security rules on our database.
Service providers & cross-border data storage
Vedo is operated by Vedo LLC (2108 N St, Ste N, Sacramento, CA 95816) and runs on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Hosting) and Google Apps Script, provided by Google LLC. Google processes this data on our behalf as a data processor under the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms (including EU/UK Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable). For schools and families located outside the United States (including Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, and Sri Lanka), please note that data is securely transmitted to and stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States (nam5 multi-region). Messages to the office are delivered through Gmail.
How long we keep it
We keep your account credentials and personal messages while your account exists. Facility records (daily morning slips, attendance, sign-in/out signatures, care logs, and absences) are statutory child-care facility records preserved in compliance with California Title 22 state licensing regulations (including 22 CCR § 101229.1 and § 101217). These records remain with the school and are not purged upon individual account deletion.
Deleting your account
Any user (parents, school staff, administrators, or prospective families with pending join requests) can delete their account at any time:
- Parents: In the app, open Family, scroll down and tap Delete my account.
- Staff & Admins: In the Office screen, tap Delete my account under Account settings.
- Pending Join Requests: Tap Delete my account directly on the waiting screen.
- On the web: Use the Account Deletion page.
- Or email us and we will delete your account for you.
Deleting your account permanently removes your login credentials, personal device encryption keys, private messages, volunteer event claims, and active staff/admin assignments. School attendance and care logs are preserved in accordance with state licensing laws.
Security
All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to data is limited by database security rules: parents see only their own family, and signed-out visitors see nothing. Vedo's operator can access the data to run, support and fix the service for your school, and never sells or shares it.
Children
Vedo is used by adults (parents, guardians and school staff). Children do not use Vedo and do not have accounts. Information about a child is provided by their parent or school.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing us. If you live in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to delete; we do not sell or share personal information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app.
